Famed photographer Carrie Mae Weems conducts a Master Class lecture to student photographers at the Getty Museum, Jan. 26, 2012.

Reblogging for two reasons:

1. Carrie Mae Weems is an amazing artist.
2. Two years ago after I told Ava I wanted to attend CalArts*, she saw me in the newsroom of my previous college and whispered in my ear, “why are you still here? Get the hell out and go to CalArts.” Needless to say, she was the only person who didn’t criticize my decision to attend art school. I’m also a huge fan of her work and if I could, I’d reblog everything she does.

*For a solid two years, I wanted to attend CalArts. Then I discovered PNCA and ignored CalArts. Now I’m a junior at PNCA and I couldn’t be more stoked to be here. Anyway, everyone deserves at least one person outside of family to believe in them. Thanks, Ava.
